F10 = 2 wheel drive F100 truck. Y = 352 cubic inch FE V8 engine with 2 bbl carb. K = built at Kansas City assembly plant. 858217 = assembled in May, 1966. Hope this helps.

If the door tag doesn't match the title check the numbers stamped on the frame and make sure they match the title. The frame is stamped in two places on the passenger side top of the frame rail, one underneath the cab, " impossible to read with the cab on the frame" and behind the radiator support in front of the cross member. the stampings are shallow and depending on the rust sometimes hard to see. They begin and end with a star stamp.

How in the hell do you expect a to understand this confusing mish-mash you typed, since you omitted important info? Plus, there's no such thing as a "door tag."

I've typed the following 100's of times here on FTE:

Compare the VIN stamped on the Warranty Plate to the hidden frame VIN('s) and the VIN on the title to see if they all match.

FoMoCo said the VIN on the Warranty Plate is known as the Warranty Number. It was not used for title or registration purposes, as it was too EZ to change. The usual reason:

1963/79: Warranty Plate riveted to the left door face below the latch.

People replaced damaged left doors with used doors. 99.9% of the time, they failed to install the original Warranty Plates on the replaced doors.

Hidden frame VIN's (there may only be one) could be in 4 possible locations due to the various assembly plants:

(1) Stamped atop the right (passenger) side frame rail, either partially under, or (2) slightly ahead of the cab, and/or (3) further forward on the frame rail below the generator (1963/64) or alternator (1965/79).

Or (4) stamped on the engine cross member below the harmonic balancer, where my '65 F100 assembled in San Jose CA hidden VIN was stamped.

Hidden frame VIN's have an asterisk stamped before/after: example *F10DR639896*

But none of this info applies to trucks assembled in Canada before 1966, as the VIN's are different, as are the Warranty Plates and the codes stamped thereon.
