So I have a 65000 original mile CS. Most likely original clutch. Bad throw out bearing.
First choice: Pull the interior out to get access to trans. pan? (knowing that as soon as you try to lift up the original old floor mat it will crack)
Second choice: Lift cab up off frame.
Third choice: Pull motor and trans all at once.
Trans. is out. Just needed someones shoulder to cry on.

If you don't want to move the floor mat, the only option is pull the engine. If trans is three speed you can pull trans with out moving floor mat. If trans is 4 speed you will have to move floor mat to get trans cover on the floor off so the gear shift can be removed.

Notice in the pic that the original throw out bearing (7580) used a separate collar (7561). The bearing had to be pressed onto the collar.

1970: FoMoCo changed the design, the bearing and collar became a one piece assembly.

btw: As part of the package, 352 Camper Specials were only available with MX Cruise-O-Matic or the Borg-Warner T-18 4 speed.

No 3 speed manual trans was available....with either the 352 or 300 I-6. The 240 I-6 was also not available in Camper Specials.

A question for Bill, making sure that I understand correctly. I believe my '65 CS has the New Process 4-speed, not a B-W. But that doesn't seem to jibe with the "only available with B-W" observation in your post.

And since my floor mat is so shot as to not worry about further cracking, I guess I don't have anything good to add to the original post!

One good thing about cracking the floor mat is to look and see how much "wet boots"-caused rust there is on the floor pan from water collecting under the floor mat. Even though the floor pan on mine looked solid from underneath, there was a lot of rust on the interior surface, which I am now planning to take care of. Without cracking the floor mats, I never would have known it was there.

1965/66 F100/250 2WD's could have either the Borg-Warner T-18 or the New Process 435 (NP435) which I forgot to mention in post 3. F350's & 4WD's were only available with the NP435.

T-18: Reverse is up...towards the dash, shift lever retainer cap threads off/on.

NP435: Reverse is down...towards the seat, shift lever retainer cap has two notches, is retained to the shift tower with two pins.
