Best option for 56 Bench seat

I'm sort of at a standstill with my interior until I find a seat, originals are pretty pricey + the cost of re-upholstering, so what are the best options for a bench seat? I've heard 78-88 Chevy truck, I saw one guy had a seat from a 65 Cadillac Coupe Deville that was nice. Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated, I can't do a lot interior wise until I have a seat, they I can position gas pedal, mirrors, battery box, etc.
Thanks in advance, Don
pics would be great too!

See if you can find an original first. I'd look for big trucks, they usually have pretty unmolested seats, but if that doesn't work, I'd go with the mid 80s GM truck. Supposed to be a good fit with pretty easy fitment. That and they're reasonably comfortable and don't look terribly out of place. That's probably just me though, I darn near grew up in an 85 Chevy truck.

I did some looking around and near you found this seat. I'm going to have to raise my prices if this seat sells for that much!

Here is a thread with lots of good info.
If you scroll down a ways you will find the seat portion.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on Adapting Major Components of 1948 to 1960 Ford Trucks - Ford-Trucks.com

Here is a portion of that. There is more info about seats in the article than just this too;
1953-1960 Trucks " Seat Width No More Than 58 Inches

2001 F-150 NOTE: There are several different styles of bench seats used in the late 1980s through late 1990s GM trucks " quasi-buckets, 60/40s and full benches. They all tend to have thin backs which helps to increase leg space where needed. Some have built in arms rests and a level of seat bottom sculpturing to them, some don’t. These seats are also well liked by a number of the members of this forum.
1988-1998 GM truck seats
o Excellent looking brackets
o Easy to adapt
o Headrests tend to be removable
1988-1994 Chevy Silverado bench
o No headrest
o Fold down arm rest
o Very stylish
1997 and newer F-150 bench
o Has a built in headrest
o Brackets are a bit of a challenge
Late 1990s Chevy Suburban
1987 Chevy pickup bench
The 2000 and newer Suburban
o 60/40 bench
o Removable headrests
o Not the most stylish thing
o Brackets are clunky looking

Don,

if you lived closer, I'd give you a mid80s chevy bench seat... it's taking up a lot of room... I went with buckets.

A fellow FTEer has a nice aftermarket seat for sale. Bench seat on the bottom with split contoured bucket-style seat backs. Drop down center armrest. All brand new with REAL leather upholstery, black in color. He was asking $1K for it...which basically pays for the seat frame, the foam, leather, and labor are free. He is in Irvine which isn't too far from Phoenix.
