Lets just agree that we all have a passion for our old dentsides.

It appears some of us have had more coffee than others this morning. No biggie.

Carry on my Ford brothers!

My uncle bought the truck new in 1973. I have memories of it when I was a kid. My dad was driving around in it chopping firewood the day my sister was born.

About three years ago while in Germany I was copied on an email from my uncle. He sent all 100 or so of us relatives an email asking who wanted the truck. I was the only one who responded. No one else wanted it because of the condition.

He sold it to me for $1 (well to my daughter to be exact, she was 4 and her and him made a deal when we visited). I paid about $1,000 to get it shipped home.

After about three years and about $15k it's in awesome shape.

To add fuel to an already well beaten fire, the "Highboy", not a Ford term BTW was built through mid-year 1977, s/n Y20,001 to be exact. Before that s/n, they had all the classic highboy features, in-cab fuel tank, narrow frame, divorced transfer case, etc. From that s/n forward they were lower, had a married transfer case, no in-cab tank, etc.
This was a running change that occurred in mid-February.

P.S. BTW Beedub, nice looking truck.

Where are you located at where you get a rusty roof?

1979 F150 4x4 Shortbed. Runs, drives. Flaws, but takes a good picture. Good enough for home depot and park runs. Restoration potential. Bodywork confined mostly to the bed.

Purchased January 2015 in VA for $3950. I love the truck. I think $3,000 would have been a fair-er price considering what I have had to do to it and what will need to be done. Then again, there aren't a whole lot of two-tone blue and silver popping up. So original colors are worth something, I suppose.

Registered in PA as an antique for now (can't beat exemption from inspection, even if the use is limited).

A guy from the Power Company caught my wife in the driveway yesterday. He told her that he drives through our neighborhood weekly just to look at my truck. She showed him under the hood and the interior. He said, "Do Not Put a For Sale Sign In It" and offered 20k. I am thinking about it. I hate to part with my rig but if it brings happiness to another fanatic, Id ponder it.

Don't do it man (not for the sake of another fanatic on this forum... we love fanatics).

I'm saying don't do it for your own sanity. There are ton's of advertisements online right now in my area stating "looking for my old _____ from X years ago".

They're chasing ghosts... Don't be one of those people

I promised the original owner that I would give him first dibbs at buying the truck back if I ever sold it. He was planning to never have to chase the ghost. He is getting up there in age. I'll let his kids know if I ever do decide to part with it. That is not likely. Funny though how the wife was happy to be a friggin car salesman in our driveway!
