I haven't tried any intakes yet, but I've heard the air-aid intake system for the 4.2 gets about 10 to 12 extra hps. If you add a throttle body spacer to that, you'd probably get about 15 to 17 hp total for about $260 bucks!

Yes they make intakes for the 4.2. They make Volant, AirAid, MAC, and I think K&N has some as well as other brands.

you guys had me excited. I thought you were refering to an aftermarket intake manifold, lol.

I click on the link and see an intake tube.

Please guys call it an intake tube not an intake

Hey guys why don't you make your own. It's really not that hard, NAPA auto parts store sells a 90 degree 3" rubber hose, get about 12" of muffler tubing 3" round from a muffler shop. The most expensive item was the filter which I picked up for 48 Bucks, I have a total of about 75 bucks in the whole thing. Just my two cents.

I did notice a big difference at higher speeds (when you punch the gas it actually goes, you can really feel it kick in)-until you reach about 98 MPH- and the intake sound being louder. I also made a throttle body spacer, barrowed a friends and copied it. I didn't notice anything with that. A buddy of mine is big into 3.8 Mustangs and he said with what I've done, if I put a true header on it I would notice both of the changes. Well that is my next project. Well kind of I just bought a Supercharger off of a Tunderbird Supercoupe. I'm going to make a lower intake to adapt it to the 4.2 motor. The Thunderbird has a 3.8 single port, where the newer 4.2 has the split port. It should work out pretty good I got the kit complete with the innercooler, there is going to be alot of fabing, but I will take notes. I will have to get a chip, and a header. Then it should be one BAD A$$ Supercharged 4.2

curry:
So the hose just clamped up to the throttle body? and the piping clamped good to the hose? I have a filter, but if that's really a good idea from your viewpoint, I may just try it! Please tell me the details you did. Like any welding, clamping, etc, etc...

Also, where did you plug the sensors in? Did you make a plug hole or something? What about the hose?
