Hi fellas,

Alittle story behind my new to me truck I've had for almost two weeks!

When I was 13 I bought my first truck for 300 bucks. It was a 1976 F100, black, with a white top and almost blood red interior! She had a 460 and a c6 trans. I can't remember the trim level but it had a rear and front tank along with the tool box that was made into the bed.
Dad and I worked on it for acouple weeks, the motor was locked from sitting so he told me to pull all 8 spark plugs and pour 1/4 quart of oil into each cylinder. After I was done I reinstalled the plugs and eagerly waited. After I could barely turn the engine over with a breaker bar (what I mean by that is to get it to move barely 1/8th inch) he came out and rolled it over by hand about 10 times.
I then took the plugs out and spun it buy the starter to pump as much oil as I could out, reinstalled the plugs then rewired it probably 20 times before I got it right my dad laughing the whole time! After I got it worked right he pour gas into the carb and she roared to life! I had the biggest smile on my face!
I had bought the truck from a "trusted" family friend after we got it running he wanted his truck back! He "couldn't find the title" for 2 weeks until we made it run then he wanted it back. I was heart broken!

I've owned several more dents through the years all getting sold after various points in time cause they weren't the same, I didn't have the same feeling for them.

My grandpa passed and left me his 1978 f350, my love for dents was back with a vengeance! I immediately started on it! A full frame off resto, this was alittle more than a year ago now. My plan was simple, 4x4 conversion and a 351c/m/w or bigger motor ( it had a 289 with a t18 he built) my divorce cut that dream apart, I lost everything including grandpa's truck!

Then about 2 weeks ago I found my current dent on craigslist and just luckily brought her home and I've been hammering away at it ever since!

My new dent is everything I wanted my grandpa's truck to be! So without further ado I'll start uploading pictures!

I'm building my dream truck also, don't let time or money discourage you. I'm in mine about 4 years now lol, and until recently never had any burnout. I'm so close and yet have a hard time getting motivated to work on her. I suppose it's like marriage, eventually you will need some kind of counseling. :P

The only things I'd want different if I had the choice would be crew cab and more time spent on details, but I guarantee I'll love her regardless. I dare someone to try to take it away.

I got her running after she had sat a year and 1/2, I put an electric fuel pump in and she ran good but had no power when there was a load (when she was going down the road) so I pulled the carb and found is was dirty, and gaskets were horrible! So tomorrow I pick up my rebuild kit!

 

I'm making mine into a daily for now until I get another vehicle then all bets are off! Hopefully you find motoivation from my thread!

 

My fuel tank is beyond screwed, between the rust, old patched hole and appearently a new hole its time for a new one, I found a guy parting out a bronco that has a 30 gallon tank, he is selling the tank, sending unit and mounting hardware to me for 40 bucks I'm going to pick up tomorrow as well.

 

Well I found a Holley 600cfm carb for 50 bucks imma pick up tomorrow since I can't find a jet for my 2150, the jet was froze and wouldn't come out so I easy outted it and the new walker rebuild kits doesn't come with the jets so now I'm throwing a 4bbl carb on a 2bbl intake. Until I can afford the Edelbrock carb and intake I want

 

I hate to hear of all the tough luck until now.. She's a solid pickup!

Why on earth would you downgrade to an edelbrock?

 

Thanks bud! I'm hoping to be driving her soon, there's an awesome write up on hydroboost conversions in the bump section and I've also decided to convert to hydroboost seeing as I'll be Rollin on 35s sometime in the future

 

I would have poured a quart of Maple syrup and metal shavings in the crank case of that first truck before your buddy came to get it back.

 

If I only knew then what I know now! It was a hard lesson for a 13 year old!

 

Your dad should of told that guy to "go get the title or get a **** whooping". lol Not that I condone violence, but what that guy did was wrong. Yes it would of NOT ran when he came to get it back, that is for sure.

Divorces...yes they suck, move on, you are better off with out her and that gave you a excuse to get all new stuff. lolx2 To include a new girl friend that likes Ford trucks, right?

Make sure you paint/undercoat/over coat/paint the whole tank, and that you put some anti chaff material (old 2" ratchet strap or pieces of old inner tube) on the lower and upper support straps.

FYI that Bronco tank is going to be deeper/taller, meaning you will need the longer hdwr to mount it. You can use all thread to go from the frame to the brackets.

Also the Bronco sending unit is longer in the pick up tube and the float arm. Make sure it is the correct one. Lots of work to end not having your gas gauge work.
