Since gas prices spiked over a dollar here last week I've ran a couple tanks of E85 since I can get it about $1.20 cheaper than gas. Mileage seems to have dropped about 1.5 mpg, but it's still cheaper to run it with the price difference.
I'm wondering why it says in the owners manual to run a tank of regular before an oil change. What would happen if I don't?
I ran nothing but E85 in my mustang and never switch back before an oil change and I never had an issue. Ford also recommends no aftermarket stuff done to the truck either. Just sayin.
Your lucky it only dropped 1.5 mpg
It drops 2-3 in my 6.2 and when i ran it in my old Sport Trac it always lost 3 mpg
I cant tell of much power loss but mileage drop sucks.
If you get your truck tuned for E85 you can pick up additional 5-10 rwhp and 10-15 rwtq. But yes since it uses 30% more fuel your mpg will drop. But it is like running 105 octane in your truck. It's cheap race fuel.

That would be pretty cool! I wonder if that's something you can get with a 5 Star tune.
I tried three straight fillups with E85 in my 14F150. I lost 4mpg on a avg, never saw over 15mpg on the highway, power was fine but at only .45 cheaper than the 88 octane I use (87 isn't available here) I'll stay with the gasoline for now on.
