97 Explorer - no start - Already replaced parts...

As title suggests...I picked up a 97 Explorer with the 4.0 SOHC engine.

Turns over, strong gas smell...no start...Hit the forums

As per suggested on here started replacing parts.

Relays, fuel pump, spark plugs & wire, maf & iac have been switched out.

Turn the key, fuel pump kicks in and stops, kicks back in when trying to start the truck too...So ran a wire to the inertia switch to keep the pump running...Still no go.

Has gas, has spark (tested)...what options are left? Timing? Computer?

Do you know if the fuel is any good? Do you have a way to test the fuel pressure to make sure it is within specification? Is all the intake air tubing good and securely connected? You should confirm (if it wasn't done when changing the MAF) that the air filter box does not have a nest in it plugging the air intake.

In the process of pulling all the fuel out and putting fresh in. Pulled intake off and checked for any blockages last night (found signs of a mouse nest under the air filter which looked new but chewed from underneath not through)
