Miles?

How many miles out there on the ecoboost motors? What problems are you experiencing, if any, and have you ever raced a 5.0? I have 55K on my 2013 Screw 4X4 3.5 Ecoboost, and have had no problems with the motor at all. I am currently having brake problems with my front calipers. I think I overheated my brakes in the Mountains of Arkansas this past summer, but other than that, no problems at all.

* 45K miles on my '12 Ecoboost. Certainly not a lot of miles.
* No problems with drivetrain. Had the classic misfire / stumble one time on a cold, rainy day while driving long distance on interstate.
* Of course I have raced a 5.0 But I'm not stock so I don't know what to tell you.... Other than it makes it even more fun!!

I'm pretty sure a 3.5 will take a 5.0 any day of the week lol. I watched a video on the internet of all 3 F-150 engines (2.7 3.5 5.0) vs Ram Hemi vs Silverado 6.2L. The 3.5L was stomping em all. They did MULTIPUL passes with different drivers and different trucks and the end result was the same

62K on my 2011 Ecoboost. I had the problem with the intercooler and condensation a while back but that was taken care of by the dealer under warranty. Other than that, I haven't had trouble with the engine.

I have a 2012 4X4 with 134k miles. Worst problem I've had is with the water in the CAC, and the TSB did not fix it. Nor has it fixed anyones. I fixed the problem by drilling a 1/16" hole in the drivers side lowest point on the CAC. I can now stomp it after driving a half hour in the rain with the cruise control set. I no longer have the fear of it falling on its face and coughing for 20 seconds or so.
I like the truck. I have used Amsoil throughout the vehicle since the first change. Am getting ready to get the 150K tranny flush and change done with Amsoil also.
Front brakes are weak, but I just put on Power Stop Extreme rotors and pads (Rock Auto), which will cure the brake problem also. This is the third set on the front of pads, first set of rotors.

Welcome aboard!

Have you ever noticed any downside to drilling the CAC?
obviously, this creates a leak (which is the whole point), but I've always wondered if a 1/16" hole would create enough of a leak for the system to detect in some fashion.

It has not done anything detrimental that I can tell. The leak is so small compared to what the two turbos put out that I don't think they even know there is a leak. I am a member of the "other forum" also, and after one of the guys posted a video of what looked like a gallon of water coming out when he punched the hole, I decided to quit griping about Ford not being able to fix it, and fix it myself. It works.

You can't deny the Eco boost power! Love my 5.0 though.

Just bought my '14 Eco 4x4
20k miles on it
runs great, just have to learn to disable the TC on slippery days or it's hard to pull out into gaps
not doing anything but cosmetic to it yet except a higher flowing air filter in the stock box
freeway runs so far in the mid 17-mid 18mpg range, around town it's down around 13-14
about the same as my '10 Explorer 4.0 was getting, except it's way more fun to drive and much more comfortable

The EB F150 is a nice driving truck. I don't think a higher flowing air filter will buy you anything. There's been a lot of debate about high flow filters on this site. You may want to do some research on that before pulling the trigger.

Agreed, the engine is already taking in as much air as it can with the stock filter.

But, since I'm going to need one soon, the WIX costs the same as the factory Motorcraft, I grabbed it. It's actually less when I factored in free shipping and no taxes.

I'd like to add a tuner sometime soon and see if it will clean up the shifting and maybe add some mpg's on the freeway, if i can keep my foot out of it. But $$ will dictate that.

But I am glad I read all the 'filter debate' threads. They talked me out of the CAI kit, especially the K&N I was considering.

I'd love a cat back, but nothing will sound as good as the 2014 STX I missed that had a CAI, pretty sure a good tune (it pulled way harder than the Eco or any other 5.0 I drove), and a cat back, on a 5.0. That thing sounded damn sexy, but there was highway drone the family wasn't in love with, so I thought about it a day too long and it was gone.

But the Eco is an exceptionally nice truck, is ridiculously comfortable, and gets as good or better mileage than my Explorer, with WAY more power.

Basically you changed a dirty air filter.
Let's not make this more sexy than it really is.

And that reminds me, I have to do a high performance pnuematic fluid upgrade today. Tires are looking a little low.
