2016 2.3L Ecoboost Explorer Limited
#16
We have 4,000 miles on our 2016 with 2.3 Ecoboost AWD and we love it. We're getting 24 mpg overall but we drive pretty gently, 60-70 mpg highway/ freeway, 20% city driving. Over the life of the vehicle that is a big savings over the 19-20 mpg the V6 gets. The 2.3 can only tow 3,000 lbs vs 5,000 lbs for the V6. For us that does not matter, we tow with my truck. The 2.3 has PLENTY of acceleration for us. No regrets here getting the 2.3. We only use 87 octane.

Congrats!
We are sitting at 23K now in our MKC. Not one problem out of the motor. It just runs.
24 mpg combined is about it. That was the EPA rating for us as well.
One thing to do to keep it running good is to give it heck on occasion. Make sure that turbo opens up good, keep those valves clean that way.

Thanks for the feed back! I have not found much negative info out there on them in my 'net research so far. We are headed over the pass to look at (and most likely, buy) a still new 2016 XLT w/the 202a package tomorrow morning.

While we love the 70k miles we've put on the ecoboost in the wife's 13 Ex sport, it is a relatively heavy suv and I would think the 2.3 might be underpowered for such a heavy car....
Might be apples to oranges though as it's all relative to YOUR expectations, I have a 285hp v6 in my jeep wrangler and even tuned it's a dog imho - but it is NA no boost

We drove home yesterday down "WA HWY 2" which is fairly diverse terrain starting with climbing a mountain pass and then down the other side, then up out of the columbia river gorge. No problems by me, however I agree with the comment that it is relative to your expectations. If I were comparing to the 3.5 EcoBoost I would say it is a little slower lol. We also averaged just over 20MPG for that trip which seemed pretty good to me. However, the compariosn for the vehicle was a very tired mazda CX-7 with a worn turbo and whining transmission so.....
