carb that works with 302/AOD

I'm at the point where I am going outside and cut my truck into little pieces for scrap. If my wife talks me down from that I will need to find a carburetor that will work with a 302/AOD combination. I have a Street Demon carb on another car that I like. The instructions say it works with virtually any combo BUT a Ford AOD. Go figure! It's only because I have seen the miracles you have performed on trucks presumably worse than mine that this truck isn't already an outdoor bench, a bed, or a coffee table. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Edelbrock carbs work with the AOD if used with a Lokar TV cable.

Intake Manifolds - Ford - 289/302/351W - Performer RPM Series - Edelbrock, LLC.

I guess I am missing something...what does the carb have to do with the AOD transmission? As Wayne suggests, the Lokar products work well to actuate the throttle valve (TV) but even that can be screwed up if not installed correctly. There are lots of videos on YouTube that will walk you through the process of hooking up the TV cable and making the proper adjustments...check them out and I think that your dilemma will become a bit less daunting. Good luck...

All you are missing is that I am a DF when it comes to this stuff. I went to the Lokar site on several occasions and couldn't navigate it. Did I mention that I am also a DF when it comes to computers. I finally downloaded the PDF and found throttle/tv adapters specifically for the Street Demon carb. Thanks for all the information.

I don't know what the CFM rate is for the Street Demon but you would want a carburetor with a CFM rate of about 500 for a 302 for the best throttle response unless it is heavily modified.

Isnt the street demon based off the Holley design? I would think there would be a geometry corrector sold for the AOD, I know they sell them for the 200r4 and 700r4.

Found this

Excellent article, thanks Dave. That's the info I was looking for last week on a similar AOD thread.

I have an eldebrock 1450, 600 cfm with electric choke and the Lokar cable. No hesitation, starts with one pump of the gas pedal, and runs great at speed. My motor is stock and I'm running 3.31 rearend gear.

I prefer the Holley/Demon design. For an auto 302 the Edelbrock will operate fine and it is easy to tune.

UPDATE,,,,,,I talked to LOKAR on the phone specifically about the STREET DEMON carb and AOD trans. They gave me several part numbers to make that combo work. Very helpful.

I'm glad they were able to help you. All they could tell me was that their kit and the AOD will not work with my stock carb on the flathead. They did suggest I contact a carb company for the solution, but so far no luck.
