Help me buy new brakes!

I'm currently in the market for new rotors and pads as I have noticed a massive stopping-power decrease (especially while towing). Being that the rig's primary duty is hauling our trailer through the rocky mountains, I figure it's time to drop some cash and get the brakes back up to par.

What kit would you recommend for a heavy towing application on my 07 F350 (SRW)? Looking to order something in the next couple days.

Thanks in advance!

I installed the Powerstop brake and rotor kit(drilled/slotted rotor w/matching pads) for towing applications around the first of the year. They work Great!! It seems the warmer they get, the more stopping power they produce. I just drove a 1000+ mile trip hauling 4 atv's on a 16' trailer through the Appalachians and hardly have any brake dust on the wheels. This was over the July 4th holiday in lots of stop and go traffic. Had to make a few hard stops from hwy speeds as well to avoid accidents due to hairbrained drivers. I have to say if I had OEM on, well, my truck would have eaten a rearend of a car! I am very pleased with the kit and would recommend. Just my $.02 !

I have the same truck and just changed mine.
I was going to go with the Powerstop as well but
the bossman offered to buy the parts on the company
Ford account so it was a no brainer.
It turned out to be a nightmare getting the rear rotors off because the
emergency brake back plate had all but disintagrated so the pads were
binding on the inside of the rotor. I had to tear the entire e-brake assembly
off till I can get some more parts. So I don't have an e-brake at the moment.

This is with the e-brakes removed:

I had to remove the outer rim so it wouldnt rub the new rotors.

With a little paint the rears are done and look good minus the e-brakes

Gotta do the fronts this weekend.

I would recommend Performance Friction brand brake pads. I run them on everything I can. American made and to very exacting standards.

Same pads that go on secret service trucks and all sorts of race cars. I've never had an issue with pad delamination, or early failure. I've used them on track and daily driver.

Now you will most likely pay more, but they are well worth it.

I installed the Powerstop kit on my 2000 F350 a few months ago. Best stopping power EVER on my truck. Very pleased so far. We will see how well they hold up over time.

I just installed the Powerstop drilled and slotted rotors along with their K36 tow and HD service pads. I've had a bunch of Ford 250s & 350s and have to say that so far these are the best yet. I haven't towed our sig 5er yet but suspect that there will be no problem nor am I concerned that the rotors will crack if properly broken in.

See my recent thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...brake-job.html. One thing that I've seen is that the pretty shiny coating on the rotors wont last long though

Those e-brake backing plates can be sourced reasonably priced along with whatever small parts you need from Rock Auto as I 'suffered' through the same rebuild on my long gone '06 F350. The price of the seals you will need is way out of line price wise when compared to the rest of what is needed. If I recall, I have a thread somewhere here on that too.

I just bought new calipers and Powerstop pads for the front. I am sticking with the stock rotors. Parts should arrive today and I hope to get them on this weekend.

Have the new backing plates nickle plated! Or at minimum powder coated. Cant believe these plates do this. IMO its a safety issue and the design needs updating yesterday.

I just sealed a couple gaps in the backing plates construction with high temp RTV after painting them with silver Rustoleum barbeque high temp paint that I have also successfully used on part of my street rods exhaust. The ones on the '11 had no rust showing a couple weeks ago when I did the brakes
