P0500 speed sensor a issue

So a little back story here. I had a Detroit tru-trac installed about a year ago and the installer told me that I would always have the abs light on because the tone ring doesn't fit on the rear end. I have since found that he doesn't know what he is doing and that is another story.

I installed the tone ring on the rear end this weekend and hooked AE up to clear the codes and drove around a bit and the od light and abs light both came on per usual. I pulled the codes again to find the Front right abs sensor was bad and that I had a p0500 speed sensor a code. I replaced the abs sensor and the VSS in the rear and now the abs light is off (yay) but I still get the flashing od light and the p0500 code keeps coming back. I have checked the wiring from the sensor to the main frame harness and all looks good. Any other thoughts? Also does AE have any way of telling me definitively what gear the trans is in so I know if I am actually getting into overdrive?

Thank you for the help as always.

Does this mean you did a visual inspection of the harness? How did it check out electrically? Continuity? Short to ground? Short to power? If you don't have answers to these last three questions you didn't check the wiring in a meaningful way.

The OD light does not start flashing until I hit about 20-25mph then it does not go off until i clear the code.

I am trying to get the pinout pulled up so i can ohm out the wire but I don't know which one it is on the connector in the engine compartment. Any Ideas?

I think we may have tracked down a wiring issue with the transmission harness. The harness that is in the truck was the original Gas truck harness and I believe it is missing some connections. (correct me if I am wrong)

I am having a hard time tracking down the correct harness for a 2002 F250 or 350 Auto,4x4,7.3L If anyone has a lead on this it would be greatly appreciated.

The transmission connections for a 2002 are identical for gas and diesel.

Ok, there goes that idea.

What wire on the top side am I checking for continuity down to the sensor.

The code only shows up after the truck reaches about 20-25mph seems like if it was a break in a wire it would be an instant code?

P0500 speed sensor a issue

Update on this.

The issue had nothing to do with sensors or wiring, the issue had everything to do with the engine swap and myself keeping the 2002 wiring and modules and running the NVK4 ECU from 2000 in conjunction with said pieces.

I swapped in a new VDH5 ECU and it is good as new I have better shifts and the overdrive light and sensors are all good and clear.
