Has anybody else's Y Block given them a round of applause?
I had just swapped out the starter on my 292 for another old one I was unsure of, and was enjoying the sound of my truck running again with my head under the hood, when I heard clapping, I pulled my head from under the hood trying to place the sound only to find out it was just my lifters singing to me. It was strange, it really sounded like a large crowd Clapping. but was just the sound of a happy Y Block. I know Im a dork (wife & daughter tell me often) . but I do think my truck was thanking me. My lifters are not loud but you can hear them. And to answer everyones first question, No there wasn't any alcohol or drugs involved
Golden Earing's Twilight Zone playing in my head.
If I have to be in the Twilight Zone with my truck, at least it likes me and isn't trying to kill me......... Yet

I think this is a perfectlY normal description of the relationship us Y freaks have with these fine engines.
TheY are thankful for being preserved and used. not RIPPED from their motor mounts, tossed into a back lot to rust, and replaced with some gen-x small block or nixon (niolon?) era big block or , horror of all, c*******t .
Sure they have their shortcomings, but please respect the engine that you brought to the dance.
After a certain amount of blow by from the road draft tube is inhaled you do imagine little people under the valve covers. When you start to see them its time for a PCV fix

Fergie, in your signature block, are you referring to the sponges that live in the ocean, or the guv'mint sponges you so inappropriately mentioned in the surfin'-on-company-time thread?
Jeez, I can't believe I said that out loud.
Get ToDo list, check off "slam Fergie" item. There, all done.

I am glad to hear their are some people hear that like their old Y blocks. If some folks would just give them a half a chance they might see they may already have what they are looking for (Hot Rod). I also like hearing the 16 part harmony. And the air flowing down the carb. And nothing else expect for the 2 smitty mufflers out back. The only thing better is hearing mufflers going up the road.

I have to agree something is definitely up. I always suspected it and, now we have proof. Y-block owners are just a little bit strange. Somebody says their Y-block speaks to them and the rest of them reply .... "Your's too?"
Well all righty then.

Y-blocks do have something different, don't they? I've always said that.
Speaking of Y-blocks, you're all invited to the funeral of one of my 272. It died yesterday... The iron cancer took over it...
Best regards,
Lobo
PS: The doctor told me it's perfectly normal to talk to engines, and see little green men under my bed while I'm under the effect of my medication.
