modding 2011+ front bumper for 99-07

so as far as what i've been reading, it pretty much bolts on, as seen here:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...2012Bumper.jpg

and here:

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e7...MG_0010-13.jpg

my idea is, if i was to cut the bumper in half in the middle vertically, and remove about 1.5 to 2" (thats just me guessing from looking at the 2 above pics, would have to get an exact measurement if i go through with this mod) then weld it back together and repaint or rechrome it, i think it would look way better and not look too long. and the second part of my idea to fill the gap under the grille, would be to put a 2005 grille.

overall i don't like the 11+ front end from factory, highly modded (different headlights, painted accents on the grilles, etc) and i like the 11+ front end better, but i do like the bumper. i think that, with the mods i outlined above, would look great (i already think the 2 trucks above look good, but the gaps bother me).

discuss!

I think that looks pretty dam good! My son is going to put an 08-10 bumper on his 97 F250. Pics I have seen of that look great as well.

It does look good, but the downside is you lose your tow hooks.

Im sure you can modify them to fit, especially if you put the fogs in the 11+ bumper location and free up the space in the center. If i come across one cheap i will try this. I do however want chrome, so I'd have to have it chromed afterwards.

old thread but i figured i'd post these pics here instead of starting a new thread. found this dude on Instagram today and he has tons of pics of his 99-07 truck with an 11+ front bumper. i'm sure there are some people that are interested in this, and at the time i couldn't find much info or pics when i was looking into doing this, so i will post these for future people that may be searching for good pics of this setup. other than the gap under the headlights, i think it looks good. i think with some metal and a little welding, and then repainting or rechroming the bumper, you could fill those gaps and make it look like it really was a factory installed bumper.

I know, but if you cut it down what would you do for the plastic trim on the top of the bumper?

by plastic trim u are referring to the step plate on the top of the bumper i bet
thats a good Q
also wouldn't narrowing the bumper to fit the headlights make bumper to narrow to line up with the fenders? i.e. being inside the oem fender lip. looks like at original width it is just about right

Rather than narrowing the entire thing, i think removing the top plastics, and "filling in" the gaps by welding metal to fill in the gaps, then repaint or chrome it and reapply the plastics if you want or just leave them off, but in my head thats how i think would be best. Because yea it looks perfect width, also if you narrow it the bolt holes wont line up anymore either. Apparently it bolts up to the factory holes according to the owner of this white truck.

Just picked up a 2012 bumper to do this conversion. Anyone have any more info on it? Does it bolt right up or is there modification necessary to the brackets? My plan would be to weld some new pieces in to better fill the 'under headlight' gap...but that will only be done once the bumper is fitted correctly.

Thanks!

that is exactly my plan if i ever do it. please update this thread, or if you start your own, let me know when you do so i can follow! def interested in pics!

according to the owner of the white truck i recently posted, he said it bolts right up after removing the tow hooks. if you have an instagram account, search that guys name ("reese_6.0") and talk to him.
