Rather then filling in with some fabricated plate, what about the 05+ grille? I'm betting it would cover the gap just fine.

it def would, you can see the old grille in the first post, compared to the 05 grille on that white truck i recently posted, it def fills the gaps up a lot better.

yeah, the white truck has an 05+ grille already. The gap we are referring to is the angled gap under the headlights. It's minimal but noticeable at the same time...if that makes sense lol. I hope to tackle this right after xmas and will update this post.

i agree the headlights look a little to long or the bumper ends to short. harder to tell when looking at an angle

wonder how the 08-10 bumper fits?

08-10 Bumpers are flat on top, I don't think it would work the same.

11 up it is then as best option for retrofit to 99-07
lets see who comes up with a good solution to the headlight/bumper fitment

heres that white truck, but a straight on shot. kinda hard to see because of the reflections, but it's the best head on shot i have. i tried to brighten it up a bit also. it really doesn't look TOO bad with the 05+ grille, but regardless of what headlights you use, you still have that little gap. the easiest option i think would be to use something like the plastic stuff thats under the bumper, to fill the gap and make not look too bad. wonder if theres anything else that is stick on that would look good.

the more complicated way, which looks like a lot of work, is like mentioned above, to fill in the gaps with metal then have the bumper refinished in whatever finish you want, but since the front of the bumper is rounded, it will definitely take some time to fill those gaps and match the oem rounded off edge of the bumper so it looks factory. it would look AWESOME though if someone did that and made it look 100% stock and a perfect fit. if i went through all that trouble then someone backed into it or dented it, or got in a wreck, i think i'd cry. lol

it's almost like its 2 or 3" too long, and if you cut out that much out of the middle then welded it back together, it'd look perfect around the gaps, but then would be too short and not line up with the outside fenders, so that wouldn't work. also, that would screw with the mounting holes, as per the owner of that white truck, the holes line up and it's a bolt on mod.

overall i think im gonna keep an eye out for an 11+ bumper on craigslist for a good price, and go ahead and do this mod.

i cant decide if i wanna do it on my f350 dually, or my excursion. my excursion already has an 08+ rear bumper on it, and i plan to do 05+ oem harley headlights on the front, but im not too sure what grille i wanna run.

and i think on my f350, i plan to run the 01 platinum f250 all chrome bumper that has no plastic cladding on the bottom. i love that bumper on a black truck with a chrome grille and all clear headlights/corners!

UFVJ217 u mention an "01 platinum bumper", i dont recall a platinum edition in 01 can u refer me to a photo please

regarding the 11 up bumper on the 99- 07, wonder if something could be done with a filler strip that goes across under the headlight, then angles down to fill in gap (kind of like a small hockey stick) if u look at BMW E46's they have a strip like that under there headlights, so do w163 mercedes ML's

also any shots looking straight down from above how do the bumpers line up that way?

thanks

i didn't either, i NEVER knew there was a platinum f250 in 2001. but there was, i found out myself about 4 months ago when i saw a bumper and made a thread asking about which bumper it was.

apparently they were all this 2 tone silver/grayish color, had that all chrome without plastic cladding front bumper, and i think 2 tone gray leather seats. not sure what other difference there was.

another good looking front bumper is the OEM 04 harley bumper, has a unique valance

have u ever seen a photo taken from above 0f 99=07 truck with 11 up bumper to see how the angles of the bumper match the angle of the headlight?

96grimreaper had 99+ Platinum with the 5.4 engine, there's a build thread on here too.
