ignition switch issue

Occasionally, and becoming more frequently, I turn my key to start the truck and nothing happens. I turn it off and immediately try again and the truck starts. The battery is less than two years old and seems plenty strong as it spins the engine easily. What else might cause this?

The switch is operated at the bottom of the steering column interior. There might be some need to adjust the rod that comes down and actuates the switch, or the switch, or the bar inside the steering column might need to be adjusted.

What kind of Bronco do you have?

You might want to try installing a new ignition lock cylinder. I bought mine from Autozone for $ 15.99. They are really easy to do. It may be an issue with a worn part in the cylinder itself.
