Fan Rubbing on Shroud

The radiator fan on my 95 e150 4.9 is rubbing on the shroud. It also started making a metallic rubbing sound when in reverse about the same time Runs OK but a little hot. Ideas? Fan clutch, water pump?

Hey Chuck,
It sounds like the classic case of broken engine mount. It would be the left mount if grinding/rubbing is in drive, the right engine mount if grinding on the shroud is in reverse. My left engine mount is the one that gave out and completely sheared and broke the top right (passenger side) of the fan shroud. I was able to repair it with flat metal mending plates. Good luck with it.

That thought crossed my mind actually, maybe the rubber is worn out then, they dont look broken but everything under that old boy looks half broken. Still runs and drives ok though. Thanks for the reply!
