Question on Load Range E Ten-ply tires

Tire pressure can be @ 80 lbs max, but what is a good pressure to run when unloaded and just driving normal? Thanks!

run a chalk line across the tread of the tire and drive around the block. if there is no chalk on the edges but still on the center, low pressure. if it is on the center but not edges, high pressure. when it is all worn off, it is good. i run 50 front and 25 rear on my 02 diesel daily driving, if i will be hauling something i air up the rears.

I run mine the same. 60-65 psi. One thing with radial tires (stock sizes) is the more air the longer the tires last, up to their max psi. What you sacrifice with more air is RIDE. When I ask the tires shops in my area they say that 60-65 psi is a good pressure.
I have a 99 Dodge QC 4x4 V-10 5 speed with 245/75/16 load range E. On my 95 F150 I run 235/75/15 load range C & run them in the 45 psi range. On all my trailers 4 total I run the tires at whatever there max psi is. Knock on wood I have only ever had one blow out.

The tire company likes to pump them up to max pressure. And the even offer to give a "free" air check/fill.

But when it comes time to determine the depreciated value of the tire in the case of a warranty, etc, they measure in the middle.

I bought all new tires for my '04 f150 and the dealer aired them up to the door sticker - 35psi, and I maintained them. 6 months and 7000 miles on these bfg all terrain 15 x 12.5 x 35 and the left rear (dl side)blew out, - not just blew out, but the whole outside of the tire completely separated from the rest of the tire!

none the less, the tires call for max pressure of 80 psi, which will have an empty truck riding very stiff and the rear would be bouncing at every bump.

I now maintain mine now at 50psi, all around.

I run mine at 45-50 psi at the direction of my local Tire Factory. According to them an E-rated tire can be run lower without adverse wear characteristics on the tread but at the lower pressures they build up to much heat which will severly shorten the life of your tires. Whenever I go offroad I air them down to 35 and just have a small air pump that I can air them back up with if I need to do some highway driving on the way back home.

You meant, if it is on the edges but not center.

I ran mine around 60 all the time when I had my 94. Rears I kept a bit lower unless I planned on hauling. Mostly because that truck was built to be a highway hauler (2wd 460 truck) but I took it off road as I do everything I own.
