Fuel filter questions
For the whole back story see my thread from 7/04. I picked up my parts in Gallup NM today. Gurly Ford, they were great. Maybe not as great as Todd Gurley the UGA running back who will debut in the NFL this year. Take himn your fantasy team. Oh yeah my truck. They convinced me I didn't need the whole filter housing only the WIC sender (see picture). The parts lady was very knowledgeable so I went for it. Would have bought both but the price was pretty high and I really don't think I need it. However, I have studied mine hard and I honestly cant tell on the truck if it unscrews or not. The connector end fits fine.
My more pressing problem is that I cant get the drain to stop running. I just drained a quart and a half and it was still running. Had the front wheels on 2x6 blocks. I'm in an RV park so I can't do too much. This is my 3rd truck and I've done this dozens of times and not had this problem.
Does anyone know for sure that my WIF connector should unscrew (2014 truck)
Any suggestions on why my drain won't stop.
Thanks for the help.

Yes, the WIF does unscrew.
Per Ford Service DVD
Fuel Conditioning Module Mounted Filter (frame mounted filter)
Disconnect the water in fuel sensor electrical connector.
NOTE: There is a check valve in the fuel conditioning module, that will stop the fuel from siphoning out of the tank. It works when the filter cover is loosened 3 full turns or removed.
Depending on the amount of the O-ring seal swelling, removal of the fuel filter cover may be noisy and require some effort.
Loosen the fuel filter cover and unscrew it counterclockwise 3 full turns.
To install, tighten the filter cover until it contacts the mechanical stops.
Loosen the drain plug until the O-ring is showing and drain the fuel into a suitable container.
Tighten by hand once the fuel has drained.
Remove the fuel filter cover and fuel filter by turning the cover counterclockwise.
Discard the fuel filter.
Remove and discard the fuel filter cover O-ring seal.
NOTE: Apply clean engine oil to the new O-ring seals prior to installation.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Install new O-ring seals.

Just to close this out, I'll say thanks again to all 3 responders. I did the change this AM right in the RV park. Waited until the last morning in case they didn't like it and asked me to leave. It was just as y'all said, turned first, 3 full turns, then drained. Did not spill a drop. This proves once more that FTE is a great resource for anyone owning a Ford truck. It also proves once more that my usual advice RTFI (read the effen instructions) is still good. Thanks again. Stan

This what I keep in the truck. Used for on the road changes if needed and for my regular maintenance.
The plastic tool box works double as a place to store wet diesel stuff if I have to do a on the road change.
My "cap" is kept with the drain and WIF sensor in so that I can simply change out the filter and cap, clean the cap later.
The filters fit in the plastic coffee cans and I have gallon zip lock bags and a trash bag as well.
