GVW questions...

My "70 long bed has a GVW of 4500(F103 code). I noticed one less than that at 4200(F101). Is 4500 the lightest for a long bed, is the F103 a short bed GVW?

4500 is the GVWR. Not how much it weighs. If you have a stock truck with nothing added, it probably weighs between 3600-3800lbs depending. Go to a local scale and find out.

Gassed up with me in it, my truck weighs 4200lbs. But I have a loaded toolbox full of heavy stuff mounted in the bed, I run bigger heavier tired than stock, and I have a heavier transmission than what was stock.

I know what a GVW is, was just wondering if 4500 was the lightest long bed rating?

Ok, just making sure. Lots of people think that the GVWR is the GVW. And yes, I think 4500 is the only longbed rating.

Huh, interesting. I guess the 4800 and 5,000 ratings were possibly for 4x4, or maybe the heavy duty special trucks. 4500 is the only one I've seen on 2wd longbeds

Maybe the f101 is a truck shipped with no bed.
