1978 F700: What's it Worth?

Hey y'all, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. Been in bigger Ford trucks all my life. Good to be here. I'm interested in buying a 1978 F700 if the price is right. Besides a good tune-up and a few other minor things (the truck is currently not running due to some carb issues) the truck is in good shape with only 25,000 original miles, 361, 5+2 tranny, good clutch, juice brakes, and mechanically sound. This truck was parked in a barn it's whole life. Still has original paint and no bad rust. The truck is a one owner originally used on the farm as a grain truck. Several years ago the owner pulled the truck out of the barn it had sat in for 20 years, got her running, scrapped the grain bed, shortened the frame 3' and put on a flatbed to pull a gooseneck trailer. I have been eyeing this truck for 8 years and the owner is finally ready to sell. I love the older 700's/600's and plan on restoring it as well as hauling some equipment when needed. My question is what do y'all think the truck is worth? I'm going to look at it this week for myself. The owner has no idea what to ask and I want to give him a fair price. I'm thinking $2500 - $3000 depending on what I find when I go look at it. Is that a fair price? Any opinions are welcome!

Im looking at one now to purchase. The guy is asking $4000. But said we can negotiate. It is in ok condition, solid body and frame. Runs pretty good. Needs some TLC. Im suppose to close the deal at the end of this week. But I would say condition of the truck and condition of the motor are the main factors surrounding price. Im going to try to talk him down to $2500-$3000 because there are things that are going to need fixed and replaced. It has no brakes and some of the lights are not working.
