Update to Macs F1 headliner - Save your Money

Junk!!!!! Thats all I can say about it. Painted cardboard that does not fit anywhere the way it should. Not worth posting pics either. Save your money and buy a decent Kit because you will not be happy with this one. On the first attempt while trying to install the pieces above the door the fitment was weird and led to the first crease. And once creased it cant be fixed. Tried the drivers door. Creased. Pushed up to locate the center mount location. The sides buckled and the rear center creased. Which leads me to my next question...
"WHO" sells a "QUALITY" headliner???
I've busted my rear to get to this point only to have the finished product come out looking like something out of a cracker jack box. Not cool.
Sorry for the rant but thats $150 bucks down the toilet plus the frustration and wasted time and no Macs wont help in any way because it was bought last year. So, if you gents (and Ladies if some are on) can please offer some help, well I'm sure listening. Thanks

Is MACs selling the Dennis Carpenter headliner, or is it their own? I bought the DC kit and it was excellent.

I also bought the DC kit from Classic Haulers. With two of us it went in fairy easy and looks great. I intents to use the same kit for 'Dolly' except that I want to see if i can attache some perforated material to it like original.

I just put a DC headliner in an OT '65 Ford pickup. Had to pre-form some bends, and do some trimming, but got it in without wrecking it. Lotsa patience involved though.

I made my own headliner for my truck and still have the patterns, but they are for a '51-'52. Rear window pieces would be different....

Scott, what material did you make that out of? Would love to get a copy of your pattern, maybe I can consider making my own for Dolly.

Hawgg, I think I would salvage that headliner. Cover it, (contact cement), with some cotton or foam batting. This can usually be found as "ends" at most fabric shops. While there, pick out a nice wool or heavy cotton fabric that will enhance your interior. If you really want to make it look nice, grab some vinyl welt or piping. Cover the batting with your material. Add the piping along the edges and put it back up. Your creases will disappear and you'll have an absolute custom interior.

I used masonite. Here is a link to my headliner build thread....

I should be able to make a copy of the patterns if I can find some wide paper.

I just bought one today from early Ford, I think it is from DC $175. I hope I don't have the problems you have had. Everything I have done on my truck have been a major pain in the ***, so I really don't expect this to be any different.

Read the directions, get a helper who listens and be patient, should not have a problem.

I just bought the dc kit also for my 50 f1. Impressed with the kick panels but that is all I have installed so far. I have the dome light above the reAr glass, does anyone have a template for where to cut?
