lift up window/lock on 96 ranger
I have a 1996 ford ranger short cab with a hard top, I do a lot of hauling with the bed and the gas spring on the sides that hold the back window up are always getting broken, i want to keep the hard top on, but am looking at installing some sort of device to make the back open up and close at the push of a button from the cab, i'm also looking at installing some sort of motor to lock the back window from the cab also.

any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Rob

I would check out the older model convertible motors and hardware. They already have the reversable 12 volt motor and there's so much hardware out there, you could make something up fairly easily. On the older ones also, you can release the switch in any position and thats where the window stays. You'll always have to open it electronically, unless you get lucky and find one with a manual wrench. Once it's down, you can't open it, so you don't have to worry about locking it. Plus, the motors are small enough to fit under the lip above the window. Out of the way! Makes me want to get to work right now! Naw, its 1:30 in the morning!! Happy Friday!!!
