Well I kind of have a problem.... I have a 97 f150 that I just bought / was given with a m5od transmission. Truck starts fine.. idles great but does not go any where ...clutch can be pushed up and down fine and transmission shifts smoothly but goes no where... can be put in gear even with engine running and no clutch... what am I missing

Got a driveshaft?

If you have one, does it spin freely, or when in gear or only if the truck is moving?

If the above checks, it is possible you are in neutral with shifter or shift fork issues.

You should have a removable plate in the floor of your cab. You can pull the shifter and top of the transmission. Once that is off, you can see if the shifter is still engaging the shift forks and if there are any shift forks. ( they sometimes wear down to a nub)

After that, it's off to removal and clutch inspection.

Good luck with it.
