Transmission swap questions 5speed to 4speed
I've got a 94 f150 4x4 with a dying m5od manual 5 speed. There is an 83 f150 for sale for cheep with same engine as me but has a 4speed manual trans. With the trans swap work? Will the input/output shaft of the trans/crank splines be the same? Will the drive shafts from the donor 83 mount up to my 94 without any modification? What about the clutch slave and clutch master cylinder, can those be easily swapped as well?
Any reply would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

The '83 is a 4WD too, right? you can't put a 2WD trans in front of your transfer case.
Assuming it's a 4WD, input shouldn't be a problem. You might need the clutch disk from the'83, but it might not matter either. I'm not sure if your transfer case will attach to the 4 speed or not. Putting the transfer case from the '83 would eliminate any possible problem there (although linkages might need a little work). You might get lucky enough that the driveshafts will just work, but I wouldn't be surprised if you needed to change lengths (that's about $150 / shaft).
