I hate having to go to the gas station so the big tank was a must for me. My 2002 had a 25 gallon tank which allowed me to go up to the cottage and back on a full tank with two gallons to spare. The stock 2015 23 gallon tank would be cutting it close depending on how much better gas mileage the new truck got. As it turns out with the 36 I can go up and back and up and drive around while there on one tank. Cottage is 173 miles away most all highway 55 & 70 mph = 59 & 78mph. I'm getting about 19mpg on these trips.

Really depends on each need. I love the 36 gallon tank on mine especially for towing. I'm able to drive over 300 miles while towing versus 200 miles on my older with smaller tank. On this holiday road trip of 2000 miles, I'm able to get over 600 miles on this large tank. If I don't own a travel trailer, I would get a supercab 4x4 2.7 Ecoboost with 3.31 gears, and smaller tank to maximize the gas mileage.

Smart move on Fords part to charge so much money on something a lot of people want that probably only costs them $5.00 more to make. For the price you would think that the old 23 gallon tank would be sitting in the bed of the truck when you get it.

It allows them to offer a lower price, then sock it any one who must have the extra 13 gallons. It's a way to make the truck cheaper on paper, then increase the profits on half of the trucks.

Like I said smart move. Extra $390.00 bucks profit on half the trucks they sell.

I didn't get the larger tank because I don't need it. The smaller tank still exceeds my bladder capacity.

I carry a pee bottle, so I don't have to stop.

I think that is easy money for Ford on the option, but the larger tank is something I will order when I order my next truck.

Bigger is better when it comes to gas tanks. I've had two Toyota 4Runners in the past where it seems like I'm constantly stopping to get gas.

If they sold a 46 gallon tank, I'd buy that.
