1984 car 351W into a 1982 F100

Hello Gents,

need advice, as the internet is filled with too much info. Or simply, I'm not efficient enough in filtering the needed info out.

Situation:
I have a 1982 F100 Flareside, that came originally with a 255cui, 4.2l V8. Has still A/C in it. PO didn't care much, so pretty much all the gaskets are blown and engine is in bad shape. Had already a thread about possible exchange engines.
After a long decision cycle and some negotiations, I ended up scoring a freshly rebuild 351W. Casting tells me, it was for a car and is from 1984. The attached parts were old and rusty, so I changed them out. All the adventure will be posted in a new thread with lots of pics soon...

This engine has received a lot new accessory parts and is soon good to go in. Engine mounts and the wiring is not the primary concern. Have new mounts and IŽll try to keep the original wiring in my truck.
Being aware of the different balance, IŽll mount a fitting flexplate with the 28oz weight to marry my existing C5. Just have to check the size and amount of tooth for the trans.

The troubling primary is: I have to move to NY next year. And as weŽre going back to Germany some years later means: I need to keep all the emissions stuff to pass the testing and get a registration.
Looking into DMV tips, they say that you can swap in a different engine, but to get a referee to approve it, you have to use the more modern vacuum / emissions stuff related to the donor engine.

Question: Is it real, that I have to get rid of my 1982 F100 4.2l vacuum and emissions stuff and swap to a newer one of the 1984 351W? I already pulled the diagram for a 1984 F150, which should be the right way (I hope).

Knowing nothing for certain and being about ready to make that swap happening, I would really appreciate some advice and tips.

I'd just register it whatever way the title reads. Probably wouldn't hurt to have something that resembles a catalytic converter and pull any "engine" dash light bulbs. Then find a redneck garage to do your inspections and let him sell you the $20 windshield wipers at inspection time.
