I'd like to install a dash camera in my 2015 KR. Wondering I should pull the power from? I would like to hard wire it, hot when key on only. Do not want to use any of the upfitters.

I know it's not generally recommended, but I wire to the fuse box on the passenger side floor. Something that draws little power, like a dash cam, should be ok with a fuse tap. Just find one that's only powered when the truck is on.

 

This is exactly how I did mine, and have had 0 issues with it, and it is on all the time.

 

I plugged into two unused ( Spare) fuses in the panel by the passengers foot well.

One fuse was constant hot and the other fuse was keyed. The third wire off my camera needed a ground which i grounded to the screw under the dash.
