2011 6.2L Brake Pads Replaced at 50k

Replaced the brake pads this afternoon. After a few hours, I completed the job with a cold Amber and aching back. Make sure to turn the steering wheel to the desired angle to work around the passenger and driver side rotors. The original pads were fine but the new Napa Premium pads look thicker. So, I started with the passenger side and completed driver side. While replacing the pads, I double checked to see the rotors and calipers were in working condition. I lubricated the caliper pins and the desired areas where the pads ends connected on the calipers. Lastly, make sure to screw one caliper retaining pin half way before fastening them. Good luck with your pads and reward yourself with a cold one… Wheel bearings are next.

If the pads were ok why did they need replacing? I always replace rotors or resurface them when replacing pads. Good luck!

I'll change mine early like this mainly because I don't get a lot of free time, could be Navajo is in the same boat. Besides nothing like fresh pads on a 4-5 year old truck.

I just did the pads and gave the rotors a quick spin on the lathe to clean them up. My F250 has 160,000km or 100,000miles. Pads original were still about 45%! That's pretty good life.

Wow I hope I can go 100k before I need rotors and pads. How did the aspirin and beer combo work?

The pain is long forgotten now! I wish something was broken on my truck so I could fix it! All I get to do today is stain the sundeck. Sounds like another beer and aspirin day.

If I known that you wanted something to do you could of helped me replace my driveway 59 yards total.

To many years of freight trucks delivering to my shop.

Nice job Denny,

Jeeze, that house looks just like one we looked at buying up here. I had to double check your location to make sure. From this angle it looks like that front corner of the roof is waiting to "catch" some delivery driver that backs in without paying attention.

Had a couple of close calls over the years but no hits, the only big thing that gets backed in there anymore is my 5ver or friends that may be visiting us. We have been retired for a few years and decided to it was time to fix the mess we had.
