That is a beautiful 35 Ford truck. I hope you find a script flatbed to go on the truck. I also hope you find someone who can use the tank.

 

Not to put a damper on this but I know the older flatbeds said 'Ford Truck' in script. I am not sure what years had 'Ford Truck' on them. Does anyone know?

Also, while I'm not sure about '35 trucks, the '32-'34 BB trucks had frame rails 37 1/2" in width at the rear. Not the common 34".....

 

There is a place in Cleveland Georgia , that has a few flat bed old fords . He runs flat bed trailers out west and buys and brings back old iron , instead of coming back empty . His prices are good . Scott, you are correct. The frame width wasn't made an SAE standard width of 34" until '39 or '40. I would think that one could move the brackets and bumpers for the bunks and fill in the old rivet holes. I am like Abe, I have seen a script bed with Ford Truck in script, I think if IIRC it was a TT or AA truck.

 

There is an antique and collectibles shop in an old warehouse in my town. They have an old Dodge car, and old Allis Chalmers tractor, and this old Ford truck with the bed I am talking about. I will try to g3et a pic on

Update guys, thanks for the comments and tips. I finally got to see that non script flatbed. Its in great shape! I plan on having it picked up tomorrow. At 12 feet long its a bit cumbersome to move around. It has the original bed strips with the square holes. Its missing the wood and needs some cleaning up but it should work perfect. I have my fingers crossed that the bunks will line up with my frame!


On that tanker body, I can get it to Chamblee Georgia, Secaucus NJ or pretty much anywhere south of I4 in Florida. I have some truckers that owe me a favor. They have dedicated runs to those cities. Its presently in Tampa, Florida. If a deal is struck, I can get it to those locations for free. They should be able to even load it on your trailer. I will try to post it on the For sale section. It looks better in the photos, it has some rust and a softball sized rust hole. It had been stored indoors for most of its life and since its restoration. Its been outside for 2 years. The wooden brackets and hardware are all there too. Here is a photo from when I removed it.

Researching the Ford Truck script bed thing, I found this pic...



The site I found this on was a T forum, and the discussion there was the word 'Truck' was omitted with the introduction of the Model AA trucks in '28.

PS, just to add another piece of useless semi-related trivia, Ford pickup tailgates from 35-40 had V8 embossed in them under the Ford script. The V8 was removed in '41 when the 6 cylinder engine went into production and the Ford script was moved to the center of the gate.

 

I sold my script bed the other day to a guy with an AA truck. He was excited to find one. At least it will be put to use....

 

I paid $50 for that 12 footer. Now im not sure why i did other than to save it from becoming scrap. If i can get my money back plus maybe a little gas $ id be happy. Somebody close by will be able to use it. If not maybe ill put it on a 46 coe ?

 

Anyone have any idea if the bed Josh has would work on my recently obtained 66 F350? I'll have to measure what is on there now. Stu lives very close to me!

 

A 12' bed is sized for a 158" wheel base truck. Not sure what the wheelbase is on your '66, but I'd guess it would be best fitted with a 9' bed. I'll be dropping my trailer off with Josh in the middle of August on our way west and will pick up an 8' bed from him on the return trip. If his 12' would work for you I can haul it too. Stu

It could always be shortened!

 

If all it took to fit my F2 was shortening, I'd come and get it. Unfortunately, Utah and Michigan are a bit far apart. If I could figure a way to get it, it would be gone!
