87 F250 460 Dies when roll off throttle

Newly rebuilt 460 4 speed 4BBL, took her out for her maiden voyage and it dies when I let off the gas such as when I come to a stop light.

It idles well and runs well at 3k rpm. What should I check?

Thanks!

I am thinking your IAC valve is inop and somebody has jacked up the base idle screw to compensate. Unplug the IAC while idling and see what happens.

The OP clearly stated the engine is carb'ed. There is no IAC.

Edelbrock 1406

I picked up a vacuum gauge tonight, with my cam the vacuum may be a little low. I will do a detailed tune on the carb tomorrow and report back!

Thanks

You may need to use different springs inside the carb. When I had an Edelbrock carb on my old 1978 F150 I had the tuning kit to tweak it up. A must have accessory IMHO.
