All early standard cab 1951's had body colored grilles. 5 Star Extra cabs had argent silver grilles. About a third of the way into the year, both models got ivory grilles, which carried through 1952.

Looks like the 3rd truck also has two wipers. And the first 2 are missing the "V8" emblem on the front valence. Very cool pic. Take a look at that guy--regardless of whether he's the buyer or seller, guys just don't dress that sharp nowadays. People had pride back then. I wonder if they offered any incentives on that leftover highly-desirable 50.
The '50 leftover is out shined by the much more modern Dagmars. I really like the house in the background. Back when craftsmen had some fun with the trim and cornice work. Great picture, thanks for sharing!

Interesting, Chuck, I never knew that! Knowing info about 53's to '56's is much easier. They didn't change things mid year... as far as I know!
Seems 1951 was a year for on the fly mechanical and trim changes. The trim changes due to the Korean "Conflict", and the redirection of resources to the war effort. Sales brochures for 1951 show the change to Ivory colored grilles mid year. Not sure whether the artist had it right showing a body color grille on a 5 Star Extra F-8 in the first brochure dated 10/50. The revised version with Ivory grille is coded "3-5". Is that March 5th, I'd guess so? Stu
The blue truck in my pic above was built mid-March at Richmond, Ca. I see a new thread in the making; cutoff for body color/ivory grille color for 51's.
