X2
I usually buy cars new and end up saleing them to the scrapyard. The aluminum in the f-150s would be a saleing point for me. It would increase the scrap value at least a few hundred dollars.

The only thing I'm married to is my wife. Everything else goes when I'm bored and that's long before it's worth $500...

If you guys are so worried about sucking every cent of value by driving it until the wheels fall off, why in the hell are you buying new? There is a much better value per mile driving late model used.
There are plenty of well maintained, perfectly fine discarded trucks (like mine) that the original owners are sick of driving that is a much better option.

I own two different makes of trucks (currently Chevy and Ford) and run them together because I easily become bored.
I'm going to try a new Ram Long Horn next, along with the 2017 SD PSD.

Anyone want one of my trucks? because both are going, let me know....

10 years ago I would agree with you and this is what I did. Now a truck several years old with 40k on it is within $5k of what I can get a new truck with end of model year pricing, so new is a better bang for my buck in my book.

Not if you've looked at the prices of used trucks lately. There are some deals out there for sure, but the general market trend makes late model used a waste of money. When you factor in cost of warranty (or repairs if you opt out), age, miles, and the likely compromise of it not being exactly what you want, used looks pretty silly many times. I've sold many new trucks on the spot to someone who came in looking for used because they already found a great deal somewhere else but are just making sure there isn't something else.

I have a few issues with Dodge, er Ram.

1. Why the hell don't they call it a Dodge Ram? "I drive a Ram. Not a Dodge!" Stupidest thing ever, it would prevent me from owning one. It's like they wanted to disassociate the trucks from the Dodge brand because of it's bad reputation of producing junk the past 20 years.
2. It's owned by Fiat, with main corporate HQ and CEO are out of the country.
3. I'll stick with Ford who didn't take tax payer money.

The used truck market varies a lot by region, but around here, buying a two year old truck with desirable options may only save you a few thousand dollars over brand new. You need to get something with relatively high mileage, or an low-trim fleet truck to get much of a deal.

I bought a used truck in 2014, it was a 2012 from a rental car fleet, missing a lot of common options like the backup camera. I did okay on that deal, I could sell it now for the same as I paid a year ago. Trucks with better options were $5000 more all over the place.

They did branch Ram off as its own brand a few years ago

A '17 will probably cost $70k and up for the Lariat and higher packages. I think a lot of us will keep what we have for awhile. Even if they lighten it up by 1000 lbs I don't expect any big changes in fuel economy. I don't personally see the need for any more power either.

It's funny...reading these old threads and finding out it didn't work out quite like that...every time I stopped for fuel or at a rest area, I had people flocking around my '17 F250...LOVING it!!! Even had a guy with a 2013 offer to trade me... LOL.
