HELP!!! 1997 F150 DRIVER SIDE WINDOW!!!

My window will not roll down on my 1997 f150. I replaced the GEM a while back, swapped switches, and took the motor out tonight and it ran both directions when wired to 12 volt source. So I tested the wires going to the motor and it reads 8 volts on neutral, when I press up positive 12 volts, when I press down positive 9 volts. I connected the motor again, up is -12 volts, down is 0. Also the interior lights go out when down is pressed, and door ajar goes out when the door is open. What is causing this??? Need help soon going to get tint in a couple of days. Also one or two of the relays in the fuse box click when I press down. Thanks!!

Nope. The switch doesn't give the motor power when the down signal is sent. Also, when I press either of the buttons for the passenger switch it sends the signal for the motor to go up on the driver side. I'm lost.

sounds like you are going to need to track the wires and see if you can find any splitting in the wiring. look Specifically at any places where they make sharp turns. Its a pain or you can run whole new wires and not worry about tracking it.

I recently reassembled the driver side of my truck after replacing the fender, doors and rocker as well as doing a lot of welding on the floor. When I reassembled the door I had a problem getting the window back in because the window mechanism would go up but not down. There were also some other electric gremlins similar to your cab lights dimming. Turns out the problem was a disconnected earth, in my case the one that attaches at the lowest point behind the plastic trim panel next to your left foot. Once I reconnected this the window worked fine and the other electrical weirdness went away. So, check your earth points and see if they're causing the problem.

just bought a 1997 F150 4x4. The drivers side power window will only roll down while the vehicle is in park or neutral, it rolls up just fine no matter what. The fella I bought it from tried telling me it was a safety feature...."no safety feature I've ever heard of". I don't think he was the sharpest tool in the shed. I'm going to try checking the grounds and all the connections. Anyone else ever have that type of weirdness?
