Guess I skipped introduction...

some how I managed to post on a coupla threads, but really didn't introduce my self.
Sorry about that.
This is what got me here

Beat battered and bruised

I could have named it Tetnus

this side is no better

It hooks well and handles... Ok

This sad face begged me to take it home

I had a 53 f100 many years ago. Never got a chance to drive it, complete project truck. I swore my next toy would be a driver. When someone offered this as a trade to the wife's leaky AMC jeep, I jumped on it.
Currently it's a 302 non roller with c4 and a nine. The body is rotted , but the drivetrain is decent and the frame is good.
As long as I can drive it, I can work with it..

I am a painter by trade, I have sprayed nearly 3000 cars in a span of 10 years, I am currently painting custom cabinetry just past the 4 year mark, the other few years I tattooed professionally.
Really glad to have found this page and certainly this group. I look forward to helping out, learning new things and making friends in this forum

Tetanus not that's funny !!!

Glad to have you on board!! My 79 is rough too, maybe not as bad as yours. Still nothing better than these old truck. Working on these old trucks is so much easier than the new stuff.

The body on the truck is pretty rough. Has roof rot, rot in the jambs, but very little in the floors. I looked at a 79 swb yesterday with a 302/3spd. Really thinking about picking it up, swapping in my engine and using my wheels and keeping the 77 for parts. I will post pics of the 79 tomorrow hopefully. Aside from surface rust, it's pretty clean and seems to be mostly original minus a hacked radio hole and floor shifter.

My 79 has a rusty bed floor and the floor pans are rusty but the rest of the truck is pretty good.

Pictures!

Clean bumper and grill

Paint is rough, but I think I can work with it

3spd in the floor, will use the bench out of the 77.

302 ac truck! Will swap my engine in this one. I need to research power steering swaps, the 77 has it the 79 doesn't.

Looks like it has some solid bones. From what I understand the power steering should be a direct replacement from the 77 to the 79.

Thanks Chief!
I'm looking forward to digging into this one. It will get all the good stuff out of the 77. I will get a chance to undo some of the hackery the 77 is plagued with. My best friend is driving up this summer from NC and bringing some of his left overs, a Detroit locker and 3:55 gears, ported heads and a cam/lifter set.
Should be a pretty fun truck finished!

That does sound like it will be a fun ride with all that done to it. What are you doing with the rear end out of the 77?

I'm on the fence. I can throw everything I take out of the 79 and try to resale the step side to recoup some cash, I could give it to the oldest son, who really likes it, or I can keep it and part it out. Once the 79 is home and I start swapping stuff I will have a better feel for what I need to do. Are you looking for one to put in your 79? If I opt to part it out and you still need one, we can work something out.
