Anyone with info AIR RIDE 1969 F 100 front end ??

Sorry I am new to this, I don't know if this question is in the right section ?? But I just got a 1969 Ford F 100 short bed 2 wheel drive, I have done air ride in a few trucks awhile ago and a few cars, but I am getting ready to order the stuff to do this truck, the question is in the front end do I have to do a crown Vic or mustang front end swap In order to get it to lay out, I just don't want to order I beams and a front bag set up if I am still off the ground ?? It the rear it looks like a normal 4 link and a big C notch will work??? I know a front end swap would be the best rout but just looking to keep it simple ! If Anyone has been in the same boat or if anyone knows how it get it to lay out with out a swap please let me know , Thanks Josh from NH
Also in NH if anyone has some doors in my area I would like to buy a set thanks

Welcome to FTE!
Yep, this is a tech board so you are correct. My suggestion though would be for you to read through HioSilver's compilation sticky at the top of our main page. Up there where it says "read first". That way you can see how others have done it so you can match your abilities. As far as the doors goes you ought to check out this Forums "marketplace". Where you clicked on 67/72 trucks just keep scrolling down to it.

Besides welding it in, and the cost, the MII is much more straight forward and will get you closer to the ground quickly. I have seen a CV with bags but there was some custom work involved.

MII Has many different configurations and TONS of options out there. Even bolt in I think. Many many brake, shock, spring, bag, spindle, and control arm options available. It will also let you tuck the wheels in a little farther so you can actually TURN when the bags are deflated. The CV will require custom bags but is cheap. However, the track width is wide and if you don't get the right backspace on your wheels, they will rub when the bags are deflated. Very few options on brakes, control arms, and shocks. The ONLY thing I personally don't like about the CV is that the track width is so wide.

Caved in got a CV front end last night

Man I wish I would have read the post about the MII , I hope this will not be a mess, I didn't want to make it a all summer project but if I did the I beams and went that way and was still a foot off the ground I would be starting all over again, starting it this weekend I hope for the best, anyone know if I still need drop spindles with the cv front end swap ? Thanks

Maybe things have changed but I do not think dropped spindles are available for the CV. Only performance springs that drop it an inch or so from stock.

BTW...... bags on I-beams will not "lay out". So yes, the CV or MII is what you need. However, the frame on these trucks sits much lower than the rockers, so you might lay frame but you will not lay rockers unless you trim some section out of the frame or make a new frame from 2x4 tubing.

Thanks for the input when I say lay out I ment, frame wise the frame is almost even with the rockers not like my last truck , s-10 were I had to do a 4-1/2 inch body drop, but I just want it to lay frame, I got a email last night from airbag it.com and they say I beams with bag bracket at I would get what I need? But I have measured it suspension a few times and I just don't see it !! anyone know about the steering rack, do I run a power steering pump, motor driven, or electrical would be better ??thanks

I would stay away from the i beams if I were you. More than likely you will be chewing up tires if you don't get the ride hieght correct every time you drive it. And the ride difference is night and day compared to the cv or mii
