Is there a way to auto engage the Tow/Haul mode when you plug in a trailer that requires brakes? Be nice since I sometimes forget to push the button after we stopped for lunch...
You don't. Tow/haul changes the shift strategy on the transmission, and how the exhaust brake works when selected. When you plug in a 7 pin connector (with trailer brakes), the TBC will recognize it and activate trailer braking.

And if it did automatically do it then someone would be posting about how do I defeat it. lol I guess the more electronics these trucks get the lazier we get.
Don't disagree. But you would think if you can set your windshield wiper to do a courtesy wipe you can make it auto set to ON when trailer with Break Control is found...
I think a break control would be an outstanding feature! Just think, you could control when the truck breaks. That would be especially useful for the truck's brakes, don't you think?
Heck I never use it. The truck pulls fine without it. Maybe I should try it. The truth is the button has not worked on the last two fords that I have had.
I use the tow/haul a lot, sometimes without a trailer when descending a hill, but then sometimes I don't use it when pulling a light trailer. Auto engagement would not work for me.
With respect to mark and his former colleagues, the tow haul shift strategy drives me bonkers and I refuse to use it. M shift for me when towing.
I don't mind that the button causes the trans to hold gears in slow stop and go traffic, it's the driving that makes me nuts. The only time I want to ride the slipping torque converter and redline the engine is, well, never....

Agree. Also, if you have named a trailer in the truck application (I think), then it will display the current gain to the trailer brakes and the tally the total mile the trailer has traveled since last rest. More than one trailer can be named and one selected when the 7 pin connector is plugged in.
