I'm running 68lbs in mine because if I get too much lower the TPMS will trigger the warning light. I'd like to be able to run less when empty but I got tired of looking at the light and having to clear the message on the dash everytime I started the truck.

A good method to get the proper air pressure is to draw a line across your tire with chalk and slowly drive forward on a hard level surface. At the proper air pressure the chalk will wear off even across the tire.

This is the empty rule of thumb that
I still go by. But then my ride is the 85
Bronk with 10.5X 31. It rids and wears well.

If it suffered damage, it would've blown with that kind of pressure.

i had to have the parameters reprogrammed in mine when discount tire sold me tires that were max inflate 55 psi for a truck that wants much higher pressure. i would love nothing more than to shove those tire sensors up some engineer's tail pipe

So, Discount Tire sold you 8-Ply tires for a 10-Ply truck then?

It sounds like someone aired the tire up to seat the bead and forgot to let the pressure back down.

yes, they sure did. 35" nit grapplers in load range d. they paid for a ford dealer to reprogram and made some promises for my next set of tires. i buy a lot of truck, trailer and car tires from that store manager but i gave them hell over it. you would think a red flag would pop on their screen that shows this tire is not compatable with that truck but i guess not. i could understand it if they were a shop that sometimes also does tires

I have the same tires (Nitto Trail Grapplers) in load range "E". 35x12.5x20. Too bad they didn't get it right.

yep. when i change tires again, i have to have it re-reprogrammed
.
as embarrasing as it is to admit, this isn't the first time those rocket surgeons have screwed up tires for me. they put "regular" tires on a prius my wife used to have instead of the super light "eco" tires. it made the car shift funny and could cause chaos in that hybrid system. they may not know what they're doing but they fix their mistakes i suppose.

Not really. It was an 8-ply equivalent tire. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=55

A little off-topic, but there is no shifting that occurs in a Prius. It's a fixed planetary gear system, there are no gears to shift! Were they the correct size?

They were a workable size but way too heavy. I guess it caused it to run rough and when the wife found out they could damage hybrid battery and nulls toyo warranty.,everybody involved (esp me) had to hear about it. Discount tire swapped them no questions asked

So dealers can change the threshold? I have read mixed things in this.
