New trucks sure are pretty, and ride like a car.... but old iron is heavy, and durable.

That's sad when a 1/2 ton truck can't pull a simple load like that.
I towed the same load from the Washington coast to Western Colorado
twice. With the 62 Uni in my sig. 390 and C6.

Did you take it out of overdrive? That truck should have made that tow with no problems.

Bro, That one tow shouldn't cook that tranny in my O. While it is a large load a Ford truck should have done the job. I will admit I am not up on new truck ability when used for towing. IMHO

I do live on a major 2 lane feeder road into Raleigh NC and see that kind of tow pass too often. Ford trucks haven't been the #1 selling truck in America for 40+ years running by being woosies on the side of the road when hooked to a big load trailer.

I wanna help relieve you from that burden from ever happening again. If you'll just give me you address, I'll hook up to your trailer with with truck and drag it down to Texas. Problem solved...

Too bad that Ford, Chebby, and even Dodge now do not offer a manual trans. in their trucks. How sad is it, that we can no longer decide when to shift, and when not to shift. My options are no longer mine any more, but regulated by people, who's opinion is that I do not need to shift, it will be done for me.

I ask this, "Are modern trucks, just station wagons with a birth defect?

Damn a full grown Ford Truck that can't shift it's own gears.

Well John, my legs can still push in a clutch, and my hand can still shift a gear. It can also pull a trigger, and can reload on its own.

Something went wrong. Your F-150 should've been able to tow that all over the country! Something went wrong

I've towed that much weight a couple times with my 71 and an AOD tranny, (which is not known for its heavy duty reputation)

The new 1/2tons are what a 1 ton was just 10 years ago!
