Going to a salvage yard soon
Going to a salvage yard either this weekend or next. Need to get some random stuff for my truck and a couple other vehicles.
I saw the thread on the electric fans out of the Mach 1, but what other fans will work?
I've also read that the electronic door locks out of early explorers can be adapted to our trucks, are there other vehicles that this is true for?
The heater controls for my 79 are broken, they slide but don't move anything. Are there any vehicle models I can pilfer from and use in my truck?
If I got a variable speed wiper switch could I take one from just about anywhere or would it have to be a specific car or truck?
I'm currently browsing the tips and tricks thread for any other ideas.

If the heater controls slide, it's probably the cables from there to the heater box that are the problem - those are reproduced and you can buy new ones. Don't know about interchangeability.
Wiper switch could be from Ford trucks/vans up to 96. You'll also need the regulator box that plugs into it. If you get one from an '80-96, you'll probably need to plug the small 2-wire connector in backwards in order for the washers to work.

Electric fans...
The best one IMO is the monster 19-inch, two-speed fan out of a Lincoln Mark VIII. Get the plug too.
Other candidates include 90s Taurus and Contour fans.
If going with a two-speed fan, pair it with the two-speed fan relay assembly out of a Volvo 960, S90, C70, V70, 850, or V90.

My heater controls are actually broke. Well the bottom on is. I think the top is just disconnected. I can stick my hand under the dash right in front of the floor shifter and move a lever around to direct heat out of the defroster or out of the floor vents. Heat never comes out of the dash vents so I'm guessing something is awry with the plumbing. Gonna pull the dash soon. I've been googling interior pictures of various 70's and 80's ford vehicles and all the heater controls look different. But I figured I'd ask.
Thnsks for the help guys.

I got my two speed 19" electric fan from a '94 Mercury Cougar for $20 and a wiring harness from Ebay for $30. Pretty sweet upgrade. But it will require the 3G 130Amp alternator to run it, got that plus the mega fuse box from a '92 Taurus for $30. Just make sure you get the plugs for both and as much wiring as possible.
