I have a 95 f350 7.5l Crew cab with 157000 miles . I'm new to the site but have always looked on here when issues arose with the truck. My current problem is that when I accelerate very hard up to about 70 mph the temp climbs up to well in the m of normal as soon as I let off the temp comes back around the o where it normally stays. Also on a 95 degree day when idling for a long period of time with a/c on it keeps climbing up. A little history on the truck I have owned it for about a year I bought it from a friend who owned since new.in that time I did all the usual maint. Tune up and trans rebuild also just revealed timing cover and timing chain. The truck also sat for about 2 years with rare trips to go get feed. I know this is kinda a long post but I was trying to give as much info as possible thanks
I have used a later thermometer on the thermostat housing o on normal is about 185 after the thermostat opens and it has a 195 thermostat. So normally it runs about 185 but it concerns me that the temp rises on up when I get on it hard or let it sit idling for a period of time.
It could have old coolant. It could have a weak tensioner causing belt to slip at high rpm. It could be a weak clutch on the fan. It could be a weak water pump. It could need a good flush. Maybe the fins in the radiator are clogged. There's a lot of things to check.
