Did a google search for copper heater core and found these people. Don't know anything about them though.

And yes, resistors do go bad. They are made with several loops of resistor wire and the wires can burn through and break.
They're easy to replace though.

LMC truck shows a copper heater core, look them up on line, they got the resistor as well. Might as well replace the blower motor while there.

Thanks men. I forgot about LMC. after seeing the schematic on there site. Looking at the parking brake set up on the frame where the front cable connects to the back cables.
its Shows a arm with a spring and a threaded rod for adjustment. on my 79 f250 is that what i should have? when i got the truck it does not have that set up?

any light on this subject would be helpful. thanks

The Ford parts catalog shows the 78-up F250 uses a slightly different set up.
Click on the link.

All thansk to ranger429: For anyone looking for a brass/copper core Advanced Auto part number 398304 is the correct one. It is also the same core that fits early, 68'ish mustangs. Laurel Mountain Mustang is where I bought mine from. Part number just in case it is needed in the future:
For A/C 18476-1A, for non A/C 18476-2
1973-79 BRONCO HEATER CORE - WITHOUT A/C - BRASS | Laurel Mountain Mustang
Also NAPA but makes sure and ask are they aluminum or copper?
Copper is what you want. Heater core, high output heater
C6OZ-18476-B
Antique Auto Supply, Arlington, TX (817) 275=2381
Wesley Obsolete Parts, Liberty, KY (606) 787-5293

Dennis Carpenter, Concord, NC also has 1 but they have it listed under C60Z-18476-B, the third digit is "zero" instead of the correct letter "O". (704) 786-8139
Additional C6OZ-18476-B heater core applications:
1966/70 Falcon w/o A/C / 1966/72 Fairlane/Torino w/o A/C / 1971/73 Mustang/Cougar w/o A/C
Heater core w/ factory A/C or hi-low comfort vent system

Ridiculous! Whoever gave you this info, didn't have a single clue what he/she was talking about.

Hi output heater optional for ALL 1973/79 F100/350's & 1978/79 Bronco's. No F100 Camper Special's after 1967, no Bronco Camper Specials.

Pic = 18476: Basic part number for heater cores, scroll down to see applications. 2nd entry from bottom of page: C6OZ-18476-B .. Hi Output 8" core.
