LS headers in 53-56

I'm in the same boat right now, I'm wanting long tubes too for the power gain. Our steering linkage is in the way, some suggested u-joints but that would be unsafe for me. Others say take a set of C6 exhaust manifolds and reverse them,I'm looking into this way. Hi-boys or street rods would work, but they don't make them for cathedral port heads. Shorty's might work, but I really want the long tubes. So here are the two choices I'm leaning to, Custom make a set from $1750- $2500,or going super crazy and TWIN TURBO . Redman,American, and Stedman don't have anything for us, good luck and keep me in the loop please. L8R ZFLASH

I also really want full length headers for power. Actually, I don't have a LS motor but a 6.2 Mercedes AMG engine. Thing is that it's not really much wider than a LS and the bore spacing is almost spot on. So my idea was to use a set of LS headers and change the exhaust flange.
Hedman has a selection of headers for the LS for different Chevy trucks. I'm not sure they'll fit though. On pictures it looks like the Chevy frames are narrower in the front. If the headers then are made wide to go outside of the frame rails they're probably going to hit the frame rails if using them in a Ford.
I got a set of shorty headers for my engine but I'll be in lack of power. Custom is too expensive.
