What year was the Studebaker pickup?
The only pickup rarer than a Studebaker, is the Powell, that most people have never seen or heard of.
Studebaker pickups are fan favorites as members of the Studebaker Drivers Club promote them heavily as do several Hemmings Classic Car columnists.
The first car w/a pickup bed was the 1937 Studebaker Coupe Express. Most people assume it was the 1957 Ranchero, but that ain't so.

That is one mitty fine looking truck, would not take the lack of trophy too much at heart, been to several auto shows and amazed with some of the selections; and on occasion, questioned the qualifications of some the judges?? Must admit, there are a couple late 40's Studebaker pickups in my area and they do draw attn. Yep, Sunny daze, time to take it for a spin for onlooker's to appreciate.
Installed the same/similar rims, American Mags, on my 65, at least 10 years ago and receive quite a few favorable comments, what I like most is since I am basically lazy the fact they require minimum, in my case, if any, maintenance. After these many years just ordered and waiting shipment of locking hub nuts.
Too bad no pic's of the event and of the competition, perhaps post pic's ond FTE forum and allowed member's pick the winner's.

Well the show is over and I didn't bring any iron home. It did come down to a tie between mine and another rig for Beauty of the show and the tie breaker did not go to me. I lost to an old Studebaker pickup that looked real good from a distance, if you walked up to it and looked at it the interior was original and had nothing done to it but have the seat recovered. Inside the box was Rhinolined black. The truck was light blue. Rhino lining always yells out to me that stuff is being hidden. The hood never came up on the truck the whole show and if you looked under it nothing had been done to it underneath. I am OK with it. I am glad it won. What really makes me angry is my wife went shopping and did not come to the show. Had she came and voted I would be posting something entirely different.
I do a lot of shows, big and small. When I'm at a show with lets say 30 vehicles and my truck has drawn a large group throughout the day you would think I'd win something, not always so.
A lot of small shows are put on by a "Host Club" if they don't have the kind of trophy that is being given out that day, then most of theirs win.
If a generic plaque is being awarded then anyone can win.
Bottom line is "EXPOSURE" keep your truck going to these shows. One day a photographer from a magazine might be there and wants to do a photo shoot of your truck. It can and will happen.
Keep showing it, it will pay off.

There's no telling how they judge these shows. Last year I had 3 of my customer cars I was going to take to the local show. As it ended up I only was able to take one. Of the 3, the one I took('58Chevy 1/2t)was my 3rd choice. I've never been 100% happy with the way the truck turned out, even though the owner is highly pleased.
My 3rd choice took 2 trophys: 1st place pre 80 stock, and best interior.
Hey, I took the trophy's, but I still wish I could have brought the other cars. If that Chevy took 1st, the '66 Mustang I wanted to take would have taken best of show.

Hudson pickups were only made 1946/47, the front seat cannot be adjusted, but it seats 4 people.

I have never entered my vehicles in shows for the very reason that gangastakr states.
On a different note about rare vehicles.
I saw this Plymouth on CL. I have never seen one restored or one in decent condition. They must be very rare as well.
