15" rims likely will not fit without a pretty huge offset. You won't clear the caliper otherwise.

That said, the old BFG MTs were awesome tires. I don't care for the new KM2s. They don't clean out well, and the rubber is very soft and likely to be punctured by rocks.

The MTRs are pretty nice. They clean out better, but I've found them not to have very good street manners in the rain and they're pretty loud.

My preferred street tires are Cooper Discoverer STTs. They're louder than the BFGs on the road but handle way better than either of the tires you listed in any terrain.

would you consider the STT Pro to be better than the STT? they pros look even sexier and would look nice on my 88

I don't have any experience with the STT Pros so I have no idea how they perform.

If you go to tirerack.com and read ratings and reviews you will get the opinions of hundreds of people as opposed to 3-4 on FTE.

I hate to add complexity, but I have been very pleased with the traction and wear of my set of Kelly Safari TSR's:

Safari TSR Tires | Kelly Tires

Reviews - Kelly Safari TSR All-Terrain Tire Reviews by Offroaders.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Review Engine Powered by ReviewPost

I don't consider them to be anywhere near as loud as mudders and no more noisy than any other AT tire I've shod my pickup with.
