Want to upgrade Mirrors--(UPDATED 3/19/2019)

I have a 1994 Econoline E250.

I recently bought a set of side mirrors that were listed to "match" my year /model of van....upon arrival, the mirrors are 4 post and original equipment is 3 post mount.

Original Amazon Purchase link: Amazon.com: Driver and Passenger Manual Towing Side-View Mirrors Replacement for Ford Van 7C2Z17683DA 7C2Z17682DA: Automotive

I love the mirrors, but as seen in the image below, there is no way to get these mirrors on.

I need a permanent towing mirror solution.
I would be willing to modify my van if at all possible to accommodate these mirrors, but would rather not without clear instructions, and sample images of this having already been done.

I have contacted several Auto parts store, online retailers, Mirror sellers, etc looking for an equivalent mirror for my 94 E-Series, but am coming up empty.

Can someone point me in the right direction, make a suggestion of where to look, or who to contact, for actual towing mirrors that would fit this year and model Van.

Or is there other alternatives I am missing???

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

That's a common problem....sort of, I was looking at new ones for mine and most listings would range from 92-up and some would say 92-02 and then 03-up. My 02 has 3 studs and I think Ford went to 4 studs in 03. Either way a lot of the Aftermarket part listings are wrong.......

It might be easier to fit '03-up doors to go with those telescoping mirrors.

I will take a closer look tomorrow.
At first glance it looked as though the metal is a single Aluminum piece, but will double check

Y'all listen up here..................

The 4 stud mounting mirrors and their matching doors first appeared beginning model year 2003. While its possible to cobble earlier doors to accommodate those larger-base mirrors given their weight and wind issues it would be far, far better swapping door shells of the proper year.

Most DIY salvage yards should have the proper doors complete for less than $150 each, you naturally doing all the removing etc. Of course this might necessitate having "new" doors painted to match the existing van color so that too needs to be a consideration.

I've done this sort of cobbling and was not happy with the finished results, most notably how they couldn't be mounted as securely as a proper fit would have yielded.

IF those mirrors are absolutely necessary swapping door shells is the best way to go.

Thank you....this is the straight up answer I am always looking for.

Now? Is there other alternatives to consider???

Other extendable towing mirror makers?
Other mirrors (period)
I miss the old twin 4 inch (one standard 4 inch mirror and the 4inch fish-eye) on the white "C" Bracket, and I can not find a supplier for those.

Looking for more suggestions

Continued help is appreciated

I would change doors. These later model vans are getting to the wrecking yards now (our local you pull it yard has 2 vans 04-07 and doors are about $70 each)

Yep, yep and double yep on this ^^^ !

IMHO it makes no sense farting with trying to modify something when a simple and relatively cheap fix is just a few bolts away.

At least you don't have my mirrors and desire an upgrade! Mine are even turned in and inverted so they don't stick out so far.

Well, cripes---since we're sharing our unused or excess inventory of Ford E-Series parts.......

I have an unused set of dual element power mirrors fitting 2003 and later doors. Any interest just ask---they'll go cheap as they're just not used and no use in the near future foreseen either.

Actually I'd like a brand new set of what I have, that would be my 'upgrade' of choice. No way to cheaply modify my current doors for new style mirrors or paint a pair of doors to match the current scheme.

Sorry to threadjack you there, OP!
