$8750....look like a lot of rust to me. Is that a rear main leak?

5.8L/E4OD at a used car lot. Passenger side seat plastic is broken, cab mounts are collapsed (note cab/box misalignment on passenger side), and it may have rot? How did the rear spring hangers, wheel wells, and ext cab bottom edges look? What is the intended use?

Wheel wells looked ok. Didnt notice any rust on body under ext cab. Intended use...I drive an '04 4cyl tacoma and I'm just tired of it. I just want something different for a while and figured i'd about break even selling the tacoma. I don't drive far to work and bring home a company vehicle 3 or 4 days out of the week. Just want something fun. The tacoma is in very good condition though so i dont want to loose my *** on this Ford either....I appreciate all the advice. Keep it coming. I'm still debating...

Passenger seat looks broken but is just missing a screw. It might haul a landscaping trailer here or there but thats it. I had a '93 302 2wd same color as my first vehicle in high school. This is its brother on steroids. The rust and oil gasket leak concerns me though. Its not dripping but looks moist. Put cardboard under it for 30 mins after test drive and no drips.

I have that same leak on my 4.9 5 speed and I've had it for 15000 miles and she's still going strong knock on wood

Maybe I'm thinking about it too much. Wish it wasn't such a drive, I'd take it to my local mechanic to check it out.

The oil leak is minimal. Mine is worse than that and I don't have to add oil between changes. The second pic you showed isn't a leak, its just where the oil runs when you pull the oil filter during an oil change.

For your intended use, 351W should be fine. If it was a dedicated tow rig I'd say find a 460 or 7.3L. It won't be fast, just be aware of that. And don't expect "good" mileage by any means.

I'm just surprised at that price for what that truck is.. But if it is super clean, go for it. That trans should be solid, just keep it clean & cool. The 351W is a roller cam too. It's the most updated version of "old school".

I tend to avoid vehicles that the seller doesn't know anything about. This is one of those instances. The dealer literally copied and pasted some options for some truck into the details on the website. It also lists that this truck has a vinyl bench seat, and is a short box. First thing I noticed before scrolling through the comments were that the motor is a 351w, it has an E4OD, and the tires are too big. The truck looks in good shape body wise.
Other things to note, this truck has a 3.55 open differential, which is the most gutless option but suited for highway driving. With that little amount of miles this truck either spent a long time sitting in one spot, or took a lot of very short trips. Either one of those is not good news for you.

From the pictures you took, it has a rear main seal leak. There's 2 causes for that. The seal has dry rotted over time. Which is not likely, but possible. Or the bearings on the crank are worn out, causing the crank to sag and wreck the seal. More likely.

The dealer thinks they have a real winner of a truck because they have no idea what it is. It isn't worth more than $3000 as far as I'm concerned.

Gnr22, that's the best advice I've heard so far. That's along the lines of what I was thinking. I hate it, but I'm gonna pass on this one. I don't need a project truck. I appreciate you're input. Thank you.

If you look at the car fax which is under the listing on the website, it spent a LONG time sitting.

Nothing wrong with checking back with them later and offering a lower price. No way that they paid even close to that price. They picked up what should be a decent truck cheap with low miles and are trying to make a lot of money

There's a big gap in the record, but it looks like it kept moving based on the ODO readings. 20k miles in that 7 year gap prior to 06. Then 2k more before owner 2. Owner 2 ran it for 5k in 4 months. The next guy got in an accident 2 months into ownership when he put the truck in the ditch and ran 60k in 6 years after that.

Never even bothered looking at the carfax because so many times there's nothing reported on there but in this case, there's an accident I didn't even know about. With all that new information, the truck is used up for the most part. It looks pretty on the outside, but is worn out otherwise.

Good grief it took a while but some one finally caught that this truck isnt a 460. I would search this truck high and low top to bottom. the seller has no idea what it is. take someone with you that has knowledge of these trucks or take it to a mechanic that knows these trucks. It looks nice, body lines are negligible. IMO it is way over priced. I bought a 97 crew cab lifted on 35s with 167k on it clean interior clean paint for 3500.00 The description is in my signature.
