2004 e-150 chateau

Got a question. I recently bought a 2004 e150 chateau. I don't recall it happening initially, but now if I'm excellerating, the a.c. stops blowing until about 30 seconds into easing off the gas. I dont recall it ever doing it in the beginning. I noticed it initially while going over a bridge. Now it seems like it all the time. When it does it, it's like it's blowing hot air toward the floor, nothing blows thru the vents, then you feel the cold air kick in at your legs then it works it way back up to the dash. Any ideas? Then the kids told me that it will stay blowing hot air on the floor in the back area. I actually have to turn it off wait and turn it back on. Eventually it works and blows cold again.

Anyone ever have this happen? Is this normal?

The rear ac/heater unit is as high tech as a stone axe. If the front control are in AC or vent, it will blow cold air from the roof vents. If the front is on defrost or foot outlet, it will blow hot air on the rear floor vents.

If this is not the issue, you may have vacuum leak since you have issues when the engine is under load. Look for threads on how to fix it, there are very good topics here.

No, it's not normal. x2 on insufficient vacuum to or within the AC controls. Probably a loose or tired vacuum fitting somewhere.
