I've owned this expedition for five months now and never had a problem. Except now it's burning oil. 2 quarts over 7500 miles. And it's got a hell of a shake at high speeds (80 mph) I bought it with 96k on it. It's at 104600 as of now. What's the cause of both the oil loss. And the Wobble. Rear main is good and I can't find any wet spots. It's got the 5.4l.

 

Have you checked your wheel alignment and suspension parts? Specifically tie rods and ball joints. Do you have any play in your steering?

 

2-quarts in 7,500 miles is not excessive according to Ford, as they say 1-quart per 1,000 miles is acceptable. The high speed shake is probably worn driveshaft u-joints.

Oh, just hard shaking? Yeah, thats probably an axle thing, u-joint and such. I was focusing on the "death wobble" term, and picturing myself an unstable truck skidding side to side..
